Course page with nested sections. "Other Uses" and "Glossaries" are displayed as links to their own pages.A subsection shown on a separate page, with a "Back to" link to its parent section. In edit mode the section menu offers "Add subsection" and "Display as a link".

About

The course is divided into sections, each section can be displayed on the course page or as a link. Sections can have subsections.

  • Sections can be added inside other sections. The number of top-level sections is limited by the site setting maxsections, the number of subsections is unlimited, but the nesting depth can be capped with the "Max subsection depth" setting.
  • Each section, regardless of its nesting level, can be shown either on the same page as its parent or on a separate page. Teachers switch between the two in edit mode.
  • When a section is displayed on a separate page, its name becomes a link, and that page shows a "Back to ..." link to the parent.
  • Hiding a section also hides all of its subsections and their activities.
  • Optional "accordion" effect: expanding one section collapses the others.
  • The course index can show sections and activities, sections only, or be hidden altogether.
  • Activities can display a "Back to ..." link that returns to the section they belong to.

If a section contains both activities and subsections, the activities are displayed first.
